Amazing to think that Russell has been visited by James Captain Cook, Charles Darwin who ironically helped fund the first church built in NZ. Hone Heke. The Queen. Whalers, prostitutes, Australian convicts and missionaries & town ‘sacking’ plus being the former capital of NZ, and first licensed pub #dukeofmarlboroughhotel In the 80s landed here in seaplanes to eat oysters and drink champagne.
