These boots aren’t made for walking! To be fair I bought these 8 years ago from @kathmandugear but up until yesterday I’d only worn them twice - two easy day trips. A day trip to Petra and sole of the right boot detached at the bottom of The Monastery trail (thank goodness not before). We secured it with a spare shoelace (something you should always travel with apparently). This worked for another 2.5kms until the the sole on the other boot also detached 😬 Obviously glued and couldn’t hack the heat. I kinda know how they feel. It was a big day! After walking for a bit in Ministry of Funny Walks fashion I bumped into a fellow traveller who lent me her sandals for the final 1.5km stretch. Today I’m going to go back into Petra wearing trainers which is not ideal but will have to do. Meanwhile what to do with these? My first thought is repair. To everyone else around me it was “dump”. However I will carry them home despite the fact they are taking up precious room in the suitcase. I don’t like dumping rubbish in another country, or not repairing stuff. A good glue job at a shoe repair place should do the trick, though nervous that they may still fall apart on another walk if there’s a design fault?
